It’s been a while but here’s some recent movie news.
Marky Mark joins Uncharted movie (again)
An Uncharted movie adaptation has been development hell for years, but finally, there’s some fresh casting news. Well…. not exactly.
As it currently stands, Tom Holland (aka Spider-Man) has been cast as Nathan Drake with Travis Knight (Bumblebee) currently in the director’s chair.
Mark Walhberg, who was once in the frame to play the lead several years back (when David O. Russell was attached to direct) is now in talks to play Drake’s cigar-chomping mentor, Jake “Sully” Sullivan.
The film is apparently due to be released Christmas 2020, but at this rate, (and considering the actor’s busy slates) I think it’s safe to assume it will be pushed back to 2021.

New (less horrifying) Sonic Trailer
Earlier this year, we got our first look at the Sonic The Hedgehog movie and it’s safe to say it didn’t go down well! The trailer featured a weird humanised take on the iconic Sega character, with long legs and lots of teeth. It also randomly used Coolio’s 90’s hit “Gangster’s Paradise” as the soundtrack.
People were scared. Fans complained. The internet almost exploded. And interestingly, director Jeff Fowler listened and publicly vowed to make some changes.
Those amends are clearly evident in the latest trailer, which shows a more faithful Sonic design and swaps Coolio for The Ramones. The internet seems to be a lot happier. Check it out below:
Beverley Hills Cop 4
After a few years out of the spotlight, 80s megastar and comedy legend Eddie Murphy is back, back, back! And mainly at Netflix…. His latest movie, Dolemite is My Name was released as a Netflix Original last month to strong praise.
Eddie Murphy – The “Fuck You” Man
He’s currently filming belated sequel Coming 2 America with Dolemite director Craig Brewer. Murphy has also announced a return to stand-up in 2020, including a Netflix special and possibly, returning to guest on SNL.
The latest news is, after many years and false starts (including a TV reboot pilot that was never shown), we are finally getting Beverley Hills Cop 4 – being produced by …who else, Netflix!
The streaming platform seems to be a safer platform than being a box office gamble, especially considering that recent reboots Rambo: Last Blood, Men In Black: International and Terminator: Dark Fate have all struggled at the cinema. Fingers crossed Murphy and co can deliver the goods.

Not in Newcastle? Fear not, we’re trying to arrange some similar events in London for 2020, so watch this space!
