In this episode Charlie & George decide to go and visit Alcatraz, only to find that Ed Harris has taken it over and is holding San Francisco hostage with a battery of VX Poison Gas Rockets!

the rock black and white retroramble.blogLuckily for them, Sean Connery a former “gueshed” of the island is able to navigate a way out, coupled by FBI super chemical freak Nicolas Cage to disarm the rockets! That’s right ladies and gentleman we’ve traveled back to 1996 for a solid dose of Michael Bayhem in the cult action classic that is The Rock.

With an in-depth look back at what the world used to be like in 1996, who brought us this enjoyable romp and plenty of bad impressions not to mention usual features like Coulda Woulda Shoulda and General Exposition we hope this episode is as well received as those that have gone before it.

PODCAST – Episode 3 – PREDATOR (1987)

This month George & Charlie decided it was time to “Go big, or go home” and tackle the behemoth that is the 1987 action sci-fi classic, Predator.

Join us as we dive deep into hot, sweaty and very manly tropical setting of….somewhere in-between Mexico and Venezuela since its never really explained.

With one or two bad impressions of our hero Arnie and an sufficient amount of production back stories and pussy jokes we take a look at why this film has had such a long lasting impact on both its audience and Hollywood itself.

Warning: contains bad impressions yet appropriate levels of swearing, no predators were harmed during recording.

PODCAST: Episode 2 – Starship Troopers (1997)

In this episode, Charlie & George finish off their 20 year look back at the year that was 1997 with a Retro Ramble Podcast dedicated to Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi cult classic Starship Troopers.

Probably not as well known to most people as it is to The Brothers McGhee, this film does mark the third film in the unofficial Verhoeven Trilogy spanning 10 years preceded by both Robocop (1987) and Total Recall (1990).
